two thousand years

I was preoccupied thinking pretentiously about the past.

It’s all together to easy to place yourself as you exist today into a past where who you are in this moment didn’t exist yet.

What I’m trying to say is that you can’t go back in time and still be you.

I am me

you are you

solely because of what time has done to us.

Time is simultaneously a shitty construct and the only way to change.

if today you are the same as 5 years ago you failed to grow

Humor me please

Imagine with me that god is the same as 2000 years ago

Thats more than a few generations to change and grow.

If you find yourself unsettled by the god that changes

Take a second and breathe in the world around you.

There’s only one way we can go and it damn sure involves change.

From the beginning of time humanity has changed.

We’ve shared bright ideas, put on fresh clothes, and spoken new words.

If your god has stayed the same the whole way

I’m sorry but twitter would probably be more useful.

Sure stability can be pleasurable

But the time of the Bible isn’t something you want to cling to

Just ask Jesus how they treated people back then.

Or maybe one of his followers

Oh that’s right you are too late for their funerals.

In case I’m being to vague

All those bible story heroes got executed.

People who yearn for those times are still evil.

Sexists, racists, and homophobes

You see them as preachers or even professors

Almost ironically the hide behind the word bible.

What they missed long ago

Jesus happily traded that old book for a meal with a hooker.

I think back to all the times I hid behind a exegesis of an ancient text and I can’t help but feel the fool.

My apologies to all those who died

Because they told us not to get our hands dirty.
